British undefeated boxer Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) had threatened to pull out of his world title fight against heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) on Saturday because of a dispute regarding the gloves both combatants will use that night.

Mirror reported that the 27-year-old Briton was furious after the Ukrainian's camp said that the gloves both parties have agreed to use will not be available in time for Saturday's match.

Klitschko's camp is the one that recommends the gloves to be utilized during the title fight. Their first proposal was rejected by Fury for having thumb sockets that are too large, which the Manchester native said would cause him to break his finger if he punches with them.

Fury approved the second recommendation, the one with normal thumb sockets, but the champion's group said that it "may not be ready in time for Saturday".

"They sent me some gloves over, which Wladimir had asked for, and they had giant thumbs which were about two or three inches bigger than normal so that the thumb is sticking out," Fury told reporters about the first glove proposal. "Every time I was punching with them, my thumb was nearly breaking."

He then said that he asked for "another style with normal thumbs" but his opponent's representatives allegedly said that "it's going to be a struggle to make these gloves in time".

Fury was angry and insistent that if he does not get the gloves that he wants, then there will be no fight at all as he doesn't want to risk injuring his hands.

His trainer and uncle, Peter, confirmed the dilemma about the "gloves" and that it indeed affected Fury's thumbs during training, saying that "it was pulling his thumb back (during punches), causing him to have to go the doctors with an injured thumb", as per SkySports.

The trainer said that the appropriate gloves had been sent and the challenger is testing them right now.

"Now, they've sent the correct gloves for him and they're fine so as of now, I don't think there's any issue with the gloves. They've rectified it and we're happy with the correct gloves."
