FIFA Could Fine Hong Kong Football Association After Fans Boo Chinese National Anthem

(Photo : youtube) FIFA has fined the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) after football fans booed the Chinese national anthem during a recent game between Hong Kong and China.

FIFA has launched an investigation into the recent "booing" of China's national anthe by by Hong Kong football fans. The incident occured on Nov. 17 during a game between both countries.

While the Chinese anthem was being played, fans with placard saying "boo" and "Hong Kong is not China" made loud noises. Authorities suspect that the said circumstance is related to the history of two countries. Hong Kong is considered part of China by Chinese authorities, and the two countries share the same national anthem.

According to BBC, FIFA will not tolerate the ill behavior of Hong Kong fans. Officials have repeatedly attempted to stop the trend without any success. Hong Kong fans have also booed the national anthem when their team faced other opponents. FIFA is reportedly determined to put an end to this disciplinary violation by fining to Hong Kong team.

FIFA said that members of the Hong Kong football team are not only liable for the said "improper conduct." The organization urged Hong Kong football fans to leave their political conflicts away from the pitch out of respect for the game.

Despite the booing, the game ended peacefully, with a score of 0-0 draw, raising China's hopes to of appearing in the next World Cup.

The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) has already been fined 40,000 Hong Kong dollars ($ 5,160; £3,420) for this misconduct in the past. FIFA had warned that it will impose higher sanctions the next time around.
