A new study has revealed that social isolation can result in premature death among older adults. The National Institute of Health concluded that almost 14% of the US population suffers from loneliness and this has resulted in different deadly diseases such as heart and psychological problems.
According to Forbes, a team of researchers conducted a study to find out how loneliness damages the health. A group of 141 people with cellular inflammation and immuno compromised patients were subjected to emotional tests. Another set of tests were conducted on a group of rhesus monkeys.

The outcome was identified by examining how genes will react through a bodily reaction called "conserved transcriptional response to adversity" (CTRA). This process involves the circulation of white blood cells, specifically the leukocytes involved in fighting infection.
The test result showed that the more a person feels anxiety and inner struggle, the lesser his/her body produces leukocytes, which helps in preventing diseases. With the minimal production of leukocyte comes an inflammatory response that damages the cellular function.
The researcher concluded that in the case of rhesus monkeys, the chemical imbalances affected the ability of the animals to combat immune system problem such as fblood and tissue related problems.
One of the most effective ways to promote healing, according to previous study, is through engaging in spiritual practices that calms the soul and the body.
Health nutritionists also recommend that patients with emotional problems must have a daily meal plan that includes nutritious food. Diet, according to studies, is important in promoting emotional stability.
Experts also advocate daily exercise, preferably simple walking for at least 30 minutes a day. This would improve blood circulation and also promote the production of leukocyte.
