The list of nominees for the 31^st Film Independent Spirit Award has been leaked earlier than scheduled again. This incident is happening for the second time in a row.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Film Independent President Josh Welsh said that the leak was due to a technical issue, but the shownhas to keep going.

"These things happen and you have to roll with it. We wish it hadn't happened, but it's not that big of a deal. We're just so excited to be here today announcing all of the nominees and getting this out to the world," said Welsh.

The nominees were revealed earlier than scheduled because the organizers accidentally posted the names in its official website at 10:00 A.M. EST rather than the supposed schedule of 10:00 A.M. PST. The error was recognized a little bit late already.

Such incident seemed to dampen the festivity and enthusiasm that the event was expected to create at the W Hotel.

Despite the "technical issues," Welsh still joined John Boyega and Elizabeth Olsen in officially announcing the nominees.

"The Spirit Awards nominees leaking prematurely is becoming an annual tradition: In 2014, PR Newswire broke an embargo and posted the nominees ahead of the announcement," Hollywood Reporter reported.

The News Entertainment revealed that Carol starring Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett gained the most nominations. The fictional drama Beasts of No Nation received five nominations. Other strong contenders in the Best Picture category are the animated film Anomalisa by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson, and Tangerine by Sean Baker.

The Film Independent Spirit Award is an annual event that honors American films under the budget of USD20-million or less. The nominating committees are comprised mostly by film writers, directors, cinematographers, producers, editors, actors, casting directors, critics, and other film professionals/experts.
