(Photo : Met Office Hadley Centre/WMO) A new WMO global climate report reveals that 2015 will be the hottest year ever on record.
The years 2011 to 2015 made it as the hottest five year period ever recorded according to a new global climate report by scientists.
The World Meteorological Organization released this new report also stating that this year is slated to be the hottest year ever registered, as the planet's temperature already passed every milestone of over 1 degree Celsius above pre industrial levels.

This new report reveals the major causes of these ever warming conditions to climate change, global warming along with the El Niño phenomenon in the oceans.
According to WMO secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, 2015 will make history in terms of global climate for many reasons and since it is the hottest year on record, ocean temperatures are the highest ever recorded ever since humans began taking measurements. This 1 degree Celsius threshold will probably be crossed and this is a telltale sign of bad news for the entire planet.
He adds how extreme weather events will now become more prevalent like heatwaves. In India, more than 2,500 people died due to a heatwave caused by climate change and Pakistan revealed 2,000 more fatalities when temperatures reached a whopping 49 degrees Celsius, just last summer.
Jarraud says that many record heatwaves this year were experienced by many parts of the world, attributing them to extreme weather events, as one of climate change's deadly effects. He adds how research indicates the probability of these extreme conditions, rising by a factor of 10 due to climate change. Also, China experienced its warmest year this year in October, while Africa is experiencing its second warmest year on record.
The WMO report also predicts an increase in floods, droughts and tropical typhoons based on climate models where the report is just in time for the UN Climate Summit this week, as more than 130 world leaders will congregate in Paris to finalize a deal on climate change, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
