Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered an appeasing speech to Russian ministers and members of parliament in Crimea on Thursday, saying Russia would stand up for itself and do not want conflict with the outside world.
Some reports indicated that Russia aims to build up their country with dignity and not enclose it with the outside world. Putin urged his countrymen to unite and mobilize not for war or confrontation but for hard work in the name of Russia.

According to some reports Putin confirmed that a powerful sovereign state like Russia has its ways and means to ensure the country’s national interest and that includes their armed forces.
Russian news agencies quoted Putin’s spokesman saying the president discussed security issues in Crimea and Sevastopol together with other concerns on police works and the fight against corruption.
Putin also declared his country will do everything in its power to stop the crisis in eastern Ukraine, where intense violence between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian security forces is taking place.
He expressed his concern about the condition of Ukraine, saying the country has fallen into a total chaos and major humanitarian catastrophe, reports said.
Although Ukrainian leaders and other Western governments have accused Russia of sending military personnel, weapons and supplies into eastern Ukraine, Russia still denied the allegations.
Some reports said that President Putin has resisted nationalist calls for sending his army into Ukraine, realizing that it would generate destructive sanctions that could make the Russian economy drop and might quickly wear down his power.
The cautious and peaceful statement of President Putin on his speech signaled that Kremlin has a desire to de-escalate the conflict between Russia and western countries since the cold war, reports said.
