HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) remains one of the deadliest diseases in the world. Since the discovery of the disease, different health organizations like WHO have been actively campaigning to educate people and stop transmission. Today, with the rapid evolution of technology, a movement to stop the spread of HIV AIDS via ads on radio, television and other multimedia platforms is being promoted.

Despite efforts by the media to inform the public about the disease, still the conservative way of delegating information is still preferred by some statea in the US. According to mlive, the city of Muskegon in Michigan will disseminate HIV information through the observance of World Aids Day from November 28- December 1. The said observance is held annually with health care programs like free HIV testing through health assessment and blood testing.
Assessment of health can be done through interview. The physician and nurses would ask a person whether or not they've been experiencing signs and symptoms like fever, swollen glands, sore throat, night sweats, muscle aches, headache, extreme tiredness, and rash. Given this data, the health care provider can determine whether or not the client is HIV positive. However, the most accurate test for HIV/AIDS is the ELISA test (Enzyme-Linked Immuno Assay). Another test that will determine a person's HIV status is the Western Blot Test. Both are conducted through blood testing that identifies the presence of antibodies and foreign substances such as virus in the immune system.
Muskegon is marking the World Aids Day to show support to affected people and give encouragement. It is a tradition to host the event in partnership with other health care institution like Public Health- Muskegon County, Muskegon Area Arts Council, Downtown Muskegon NOW and Muskegon Community College.
