ISIS has released a propaganda video that shows a list of countries that the terrorist group considers part of the global coalition against them. One of the countries identified in the video is Taiwan. The said sudden involvement of Taiwan is apparently linked to a recent statement by US President Barack Obama during the ASEAN Summit held at Malaysia.

According to CNBC, Obama said that Taiwan is one of the nations in Asia Pacific that is active in the anti-terrorism campaign. ISIS' decision to make Taiwan a target has ignited a debate. The move comes after the terrorists executed a Chinese hostage recently.
Hong Kong Standard confirmed that a group of SWAT officers are now active in preserving the security of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport starting on Thursday. The Taiwanese government is keeping security measures tight for safety reasons. President Ma Ying-Jeou has encouraged the public to remain calm as security measures are provided.
It is unclear if China and Taiwan would cooperate on security. China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has threatened to recover the rebel island by force in the past. Recently, President Xi and President May shook hands in Singapore during a historic meeting. That was the first time leaders from the two countries have met in about six decades.
