While some children are busy playing and exploring the world around them, Chrissy Turner is trying to win her battle against cancer.

Just last month, Chrissy was diagnosed with a secretory carcinoma, a rare type of breast cancer that affects one in every million people. To date, Chrissy Turner is the youngest patient to ever been diagnosed with the disease.

Today reported that it was Dr. Brian Bucher, a surgeon at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, who performed the initial test and even the lumpectomy on Chrissy. Dr. Bucher said that secretory carcinoma is common with teenagers but rarely affects young children.

Chrissy said that she was "scared" when she first learned about the disease. She added, "But I knew - I knew I could fight it off, and I hope that I can fight it off."

Chrissy's battle with cancer is not the only crisis in the Turner's family. Her father, Troy Turner, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 2008. Chrissy's mother, Annette Turner, also battled cervical cancer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Turners were forced to file for bankruptcy in 2013, but medical bills continue to burden the family. Annette said, "We're just going to keep fighting. Doing everything we can to smile every day and laugh every day and carry our head high and do our best to overcome this."

A close family friend, Melissa Papaj, decided to organize a fund raising campaign to help the Turner family. Melissa's daughter Hallie is a close friend of Chrissy. Melissa added that what happened to Chrissy "hit so close to home" given the fact that her daughter is of the same age with Chrissy.

The respond to the fund raising campaign is quite overwhelming. There are a lot of souls out there watching out for Chrissy.

Annette and Troy have another daughter, Brianna, and given the family's medical history, she's will now undergo detailed genetic testing for cancer.
