Emotional Intelligence Preferable in the Working Place

(Photo : youtube) Survey shows that emotional intelligence is preferable in the working place as individuals with great emotional stability can handle tensions without allowing it destroy relationships.
EQ or Emotional Intelligence is highly valued by employers who are seeking a perfect candidate for a certain job position. The said criterion is imposed for the reason that in a working environment, a harmonious relationship with other co-workers is a pre-requisite for productivity, according to Daily Illini.

Although IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is also needed in a working place, some companies are more interested in potential employees who have superb EQ, as such a person can handle tensions in the team without ruining his/her relationship with other colleagues.
According to a recent study, a person with functional EQ is capable of self evaluation (self-awareness) and often takes the initiative in performing task. In addition, such individual is capable of working without involving personal matters and issues with co-workers.
Forbes stated that people with high EQ are flexible enough to adjust in a certain situation, most especially in a critical situations that requires empathy instead of sympathy. With such ability to handle conflict in offices with empathy, employees with good emotional stability are rated highly with regards to personal competence and social competence.
Personal competence includes the ability to evaluate one's self and be able to manage and use one's skills in the work environment without bias. This means that a person can interact with others without showing emotions bias, meaning everybody is treated equally and fairly.
On the other hand, social competence is the ability to empathize with others, which make someone capable of understanding people's behavior. With this ability to assess a person, the individual is capable then of giving the right treatment and reaction to others accordingly.
Given these facts, EQ is now considered as a fundamental element in relationships and in the working place, as it emphasizes the importance of human interactions.
