A study from the University of Cambridge says that one of the possible reasons why many people find it difficult to lose weight is because "fat fights back."
According to Stuff, the researchers studied the levels of protein called sLR11 in humans. The study, published in the Nature Communication, revealed that fat cells are not converted into energy because of sLR11. Hence, losing weight is impossible in this case.

The study also found out that people with high protein level had higher total fat mass.
"Our discovery may help explain why overweight individuals find it incredibly hard to lose weight. Their stored fat is actively fighting against their efforts to burn it off at the molecular level," said co-author Dr. Andrew Whittle.
The study also mentioned that people have various reactions to the same carolic deficit. Some people's metabolism boosts up when under a 24-hour fasting, while there are metabolic rate of others that slows when under fasting. This is what experts called "thrifty" metabolism.
"Therefore, when restricting calories, the body of a thrifty person slows its metabolism more in an effort to conserve energy, making weight loss more difficult," said lead author Sussane Vortruba.
Meanwhile, the Authority Nutrition reported that people are struggling to lose weigh because when people lose weight, their body also fights back.
Obesity is been a major medical concern that remains unresolved especially in the United States. In the country, children as young as below ten years old are already part of this so-called obesity epidemic. Lack of physical activities and indulging in unhealthy foods are the main issues believed by many to be behind the obesity problem.
Medical experts are conducting studies on the real cause of obesity and how to prevent it. Obesity is considered the triggering cause in the rise of heart ailment cases and diabetes.
