Konami has confirmed that a speculation claiming Hideo Kojima buried a secret inside Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain game is true. The grand "nuclear disarmament" community event in the game is actually for real.

Kojima wants the players to work together to disarm the entire Metal Gear Solid 5 multiplayer world and all nuclear devices. Nukes are powerful weapons in the game's FOB mode.
The primary goal of the secret "event" is to disarm all the number of nukes for each regional server into zero. The player needs to convince other players to voluntarily scrap their own nuke, or to sneak into rival bases and destroy the nukes of those who refuse to give them up.
However, giving up one of the game's best weapon is really hard to ensure for every single player, so it might actually be impossible. But Konami really wants gamers to complete it. This is the reason why the developer publicly uneviled the secret. Konami is now posting daily updates on how many nukes are left in the wild.
Forbes reported that the overall numbers of nukes in the wild have been dropping over the past month. As of Nov. 1, PlayStation 4 users have 2761 nukes left, while PlayStation users have 1685 nukes.
Konami is keeping track of how many nuclear weapons players own worldwide and how many are nukes left. The number has already decreased massively since Nov. 1 - the number of nukes owned by PC players has been reduced by over a half this month alone.
Kojima has always had the uncanny ability to connect with fans. The company recently announced that they are supporting an amputee gamer's decision to develop a prosthetic limb inspired by Snake
