It has been confirmed that "Days of our Lives" star Greg Vaughan, who plays Eric Brady in the NBC series, will be leaving the show. Turns out, Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian) is not the only character leaving Salem soon.

According to Serial Scoop, via Celeb Dirty Laundry, fans of "DOOL" were surprised when they found out about Vaughan leaving. It was said that they thought Eric will be part of the soap until 2016.

Back in August, the actor even tweeted that he extended his contract with the network. The outlet, however, reported that Vaughan wanted to move on to other projects. Vaughan has only agreed to extend his contract to give closure to his character, adding that he did not want to disappoint the fans.

Insiders also claim that it was actually Vaughan who wanted to leave the show. They held that the actor personally requested that his character be written out of "DOOL" so that he can pursue other work as soon as possible.

Some speculated that his character Eric may be killed off by a serial killer. Others, however, held that he might just end up leaving Salem for good.

According to Starpulse, some fans cannot help but notice that Eric has a drinking problem. They wondered if his dependence to alcohol may be one of the reasons for his early demise.

The latest spoilers hinted that he will be a danger not just to himself but to others as well. It was said that Eric may just end up killing Daniel in an accident in the coming episodes.
