For Ron Ng, it's high time to set up his own production company. The TVB actor has finally opted not to renew his contract with the studio.
His latest project with the station, TVB's anniversary drama Lord of Shanghai, aired its last episode on Nov. 29.
But the parting does not mean he and TVB are at odds with each other. The actor, who teamed up with manager Chan Ka Lei in setting up the production company, explained that he maintains a good relationship with TVB. He might even agree to enter a per-series contract with the station.

"Actually, Catherine Tsang just asked me if I'm interested in coming back to film more," Ron said in an interview at a banquet for Lord of Shanghai's cast and crew.
"I told her that I'll think about it next year because my current projects won't be completed until next year. I do hope to come back as well, so we can maintain a good collaborative relationship. If [Lord of Shanghai] will do a sequel, I will definite come back," he continued.
Ng divulged that the artistic freedom to work on the projects he love was the main reason that he decided to work on his own.
Nevertheless, he has yet to decide whether or not to enter the Mainland market. And now that he's free, he said he wants to explore different projects that would put his acting mettle to test.
"[ I want to] try everything, not just television dramas, but also movies," he said, mentioning the many offers he's been receiving from Malaysia, China, and Hong Kong.
"I've been offered scripts from Chinese and Malaysia production studios. Right now, we're also in talks with doing a Hong Kong movie."
Ng also confirmed that he is not attending the TVB Anniversary Awards this December.
