Rumors are spreading that Apple's upcoming iPhone 6C will sport a metal case, instead of a polycarbonate plastic body.

Geeky Gadgets reports that the previous “C” iPhone, the 5C, had a plastic body with different colors. The new model will have a metal case this time, but with more colors unlike current models iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

The new 4-inch iPhone 6C will come in bright colors just like its predecessor, but will have a more premium feel thanks to the metal body.

Rumors suggest that the 6C will be powered by an A8 processor, instead of Apple's new A9 processor used in other new idevices. It is also expected aid to come equipped with new cameras, Bluetooth 4.1 support, and 802.11 ac Wi-Fi connectivity.

9to5Mac reports that it's highly unlikely that the 6C will ot have 3D Touch support, as Apple intends to reserve that functionality for its flagship models. However, it has been suggested that the 6C will have Touch ID and Apple Pay support thanks to an NFC chip.

A report from TechWeb said that according to “Foxconn Insiders” and other unnamed sources the device, which will replace the 5C, will be unveiled by the Cupertino-based tech giant in January. It will then be released for sale the following month.

G for Games reports that earlier, rumors speculated that Apple will be releasing a new 4-inch iPhone early in 2016. 9to5Mac, on the other hand, said that others were speculating a November launch. But KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has debunked this speculation as “unlikely,” saying that it would instead be released during the first half of 2016.

Currently, it is thought that the 6C will be replacing the iPhone 5s as Apple's entry-level handset, possibly priced between US$400-500. Should these rumors be true, it means that a new and colorful iPhone will be released real soon.
