A wild trade rumor involving point guards Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers and Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers is abuzz right now as Doc Rivers is reportedly planning "some sort of shakeup" in L.A.

Sir Charles in Charge's Michael Saenz forecasted the scenario, saying that he "firmly" believes that a major trade in Rivers' side "will come...eventually" given their struggles this season.

The 54-year-old head coach was busy in the recent offseason wooing an unhappy center and signing new players in an attempt to form a squad that will finally break through the second round of the playoffs.

With the way the Clippers are playing right now, it seems like Doc has not achieved his desired lineup yet.

Saenz noted that a Paul-Irving swap "makes a lot of sense" for both teams as the Cavs "could benefit from a true point guard" while the Clips "have use for a younger, explosive leader".

Having Paul with LeBron James and Kevin Love might in fact push Cleveland to the franchise's first-ever NBA title in June. With the more potent scorer Irving leading the charge alongside Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, the Cavs may essentially meet the Clips in this season's Finals as well.

This speculation was actually already suggested by Fansided after last summer's free agency period opened, citing Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, who said that "this (Paul-Irving trade) isn't a rumor, at least not yet".

After the events of the offseason and completing the first month of the regular season, with Los Angeles struggling at the no. 6 spot in the West carrying a dismal 10-8 record, the suggestion is really beginning to make a lot of sense.

Of course, with Irving still not 100 percent recuperated from his knee injury, this trade could wait until the February deadline next year.

However, will Cleveland be open to possibly also shake up their chemistry by letting go of Irving in exchange for Paul?
