Former Hurricanes quarterback Mark Richt will be heading back home as the newest coach of the University of Miami, according to ESPN.
ABC News reported that Richt, a former Miami quarterback, agreed to return to his alma mater only three days after he was fired at Georgia, where he guided the Bulldogs to a 145-51 record and two SEC championships in 15 seasons. Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity fired Richt on Sunday following the team's 9-3 record season.

55-year-old Richt played college football as a quarterback for the Hurricanes from 1979 to 1982. He was hired as head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs before the 2001 season, replacing Jim Donnan.
The Bulldogs paid him $4 million per season and he is expected to be given a contract by the Hurricanes much the same with the one he previously had at Georgia.
Kirby Smart, Alabama defensive coordinator and a former Georgia safety, has been picked by the Bulldogs to be Richt's replacement.
On Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game, Smart's appointment as the new head coach of the Bulldogs football team will be announced.
Sources told ESPN that in the Monday news conference, Richt stated he wanted to coach again. However, his family members had advised him to refresh and to recharge his batteries by taking a year or two off from coaching.
"I'll say this: If and when I do coach again, I'm looking forward to coaching again in terms of being more hands-on," he said. "I miss coaching quarterbacks, I miss calling plays. I miss that part of it, whether it's in the role of head coach, coordinator, quarterbacks coach, whatever it is. If in fact I choose to do that I'd be really excited about coaching QBs again and getting in the middle of coaching offensive strategy."
Richt will be taking in a big challenge following his new coaching job. The Miami Hurricanes has not won a conference title since winning the Big East in 2003.
