Finally, a feature that will greatly lessen worries. Smartphone maker Kyocera has unveiled a washable smartphone.

Gone are the days of frustration when a smartphone falls on the ground or somewhere dirty – at least for people in Japan. According to PC Magazine, a new washable smartphone set to be released in Japan, named the Digno Rafre, is completely washable even with soap.

The Verge reports that although washable phones are not new in the Japanese market, washablesmartphones are still novel, with the Rafre the being the first of its kind. However, a spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal that bar soaps aren't recommended, and users should only use foam soaps on it.

According to Kyocera, the phone is designed for use practically anywhere, but more specifically in kitchens, outdoors, or even in the bathroom. It even has a nifty 'rubber ducky' for a stand.

The Rafre's 5-inch 720p display is reported to work even when wet. It's also said to have a “scratch-healing” finish, similar to some LG phones in the past couple of years.

Although the components inside its 10.1mm-thick frame haven't been detailed, the phone is said to sport a 13-megapixel camera, will be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and will be supplied power by a 3,000mAh battery.

Another feature that might help explain the phone's durability is the addition of Kyocera's Sonic Smart Receiver, which means that the phone won't have an actual speaker.

The whole world won't enjoy this phone, however. It will only be released in Japan next Friday through carrier KDDI. Digno Rafre will be sold for ¥57,420, or about US$465.
