Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in "The Vampire Diaries," is allegedly worried that The CW series is about to get cancelled. Multiple reports suggest that after Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) left the show, several fans have lost interest.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, "TVD" being pushed to a Friday timeslot was not a good sign. It has recently been confirmed that starting Jan. 29 the series will no longer air on Thursdays.

"When a show gets assigned to Friday night, it's usually a death sentence," the author wrote.

The outlet also pointed out that some fans of the show has already started to worry that the series is about to get cancelled following the change in schedule. They speculated that season 7 will be its final season.

It also did not help that the show took a major hit in the ratings game when Dobrev left. "The Vampire Diaries" reportedly dropped 33% in viewership.

According to Realty Today, some fans just did not see the point of following the series when there is no Damon and Elena storyline. Those who are still hoping for her return were ultimately crushed when the actress confirmed that she is never coming back, except for the finale. She shared that she wanted to give her character the best ending she deserved.

Dobrev, however, said that she is done with "pretty girl" roles and wanted to do some serious acting.

"I only want to keep moving up and up in terms of quality and be careful with perception," she explained.
