Box Office 2015: China is Expected to Lead over Hollywood with $6.3 billion in Sales in December

(Photo : Zhang Peng) China's Box Office has surpassed Hollywood in sales this year.
Box Office Sales of China has generated 40 billion yuan ($6.3 billion) this year as of Thursday night. Sales are said to have increased by more than 48 percent from the same period last year.
The official data was revealed on Friday, and it was a blast for local films in China. According to Shanghai Daily, domestic films were able to raise 23.7 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) - about 59 percent of the total income. State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) stated that China attained this box office sales for the first time.

Many experts have noted that China will lead Hollywood this year. The December season release schedule of prominent movies is filled with Chinese tentpoles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. During the recording period, top 10 income-generating films included the local "Monster Hunt", a live action animation as well as "Monkey King: Hero Back."
Furthermore, others that are on the list is "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Furious 7", "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" and "Jurassic World". Motion Picture Association of America states that the receipts which had been combined from Canada and United states decreased five percent compared to last year. In spite of that, it still generated $10.4 billion sales.
Fifteen new screens open daily in China, which now has 6,200 estimated urban cinemas. This sums up to a total of 30,000 screens.
In early September, box office sales of China surpassed last year's earnings. In 2014, China's box office made $29.6 billion and 54.5 percent of it was from the domestic Chinese films.
