Chinese 15-year-old Si Yajie topped the women's 10-meter platform diving competition

The 15th FINA Swimming World Championships are currently underway in Barcelona, Spain. Eight days of blistering battle loom large in Barcelona. The competitions feature six aquatics disciplines. They are swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, open water, and synchronized swimming.

July 25th, on day six of the 15th FINA World Championships, Chinese 15-year-old young athlete Si Yajie performed well in the women's 10-meter platform diving competition. She won the competition with 392.15 points. The former title-holder of the world women's 10-meter platform diving competition Chen Ruolin took the second place with 388.70 points.In the semi-final, Chen Ruolin ranked first and Si Yajie ranked third. Before the 15th FINA Swimming World Championships, Chen Ruoin has won five world championship gold medals. Four of Chen's gold medals came in 10-meter platform synchronized events, and one of her gold medal was from 10-meter platform individual diving competition. This is also the forth time for Chen Ruolin to compete in the same event at Swimming World Championships.
In the first round, both Chen Ruolin and Si Yajie chose 107B (forward dive with 3 1/2 somersaults in a pike position). Chen stepped in a sprint to good condition to get 76.50points. Si also performed well and got 76.50 points.
In the second round, again, both of them performed 407C (inward 3.5 somersaults tuck). Si Yajie dived in cleanly, entering the water in a straight line, and got 86.40 points. Chen Ruolin continued her stable condition and got 86.40 points too.
In the third round, something dramatic happened. They still got the same points of 81.60. They both nailed their first three dives for identical scores to open a 42-point lead over the other 10 finalists. In the crucial forth round, they performed 207C (back 3.5 somersaults tuck). This time, Chen Ruolin wasn't lucky enough. She didn't straighten out on a backward tuck with 3 1-2 somersaults on her fourth effort and only got 59.40 points. Though Si Yajie didn't perform well either in the forth round and got 67.65 points, she total points still led her to the final champion of the competition.
