After nearly 5 years of fighting, it looks like Samsung is coming to terms with its rival Apple. The company said they are paying a little over half of the original patent claim of $1 billion to the iPhone maker - $548M.
On Thursday, documents filed at a federal court in San Jose, California revealed that if Apple delivers an invoice by December 4, Samsung will send their payment by December 14. However, Apple refused to comment whether or not they have done so.

The payment follows the decision of the Court of Appeals to reduce the $930 million verdict by $382 million following a 2012 judgement of copyright patent by Samsung on the iPhone features.
Another court hearing is set for next spring covering the other damages of Samsung's copyrighted products. Albeit the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit favored Apple in May, Samsung has once again filed for reconsideration and has been rejected.
With Samsung complying with the term this time, the South Korean-based company said they are assuming they will be recompensated if they will hereafter win against Apple. This is pointing to the iPhone's surface and user interface layouts that is charged at $399 million.
FOSS Patents posted, "Samsung continues to reserve all rights to obtain reimbursement from Apple and/or payment by Apple of all amounts required to be paid as taxes. [...] Samsung further reserves all rights to reclaim or obtain reimbursement of any judgment amounts paid by Samsung to any entity in the event the partial judgment is reversed, modified, vacated or set aside on appeal or otherwise, including as a result of any proceedings before the USPTO addressing the patents at issue or as a result of any petition for writ of certiorari filed with the Supreme Court. Samsung notes that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board has issued a final decision of invalidity on the '915 Patent, and Apple filed a notice of appeal to the Federal Circuit in the USPTO last week."
Apple, on the other hand, writes that it "disputes Samsung's asserted rights to reimbursement."
