In accordance with the decision of Beijing First Intermediate People's Court, the perceived wealth of the 53-year-old Peiping has already been seized and the two million yuan worth of his personal investments is going to be confiscated as well.

Peiping had taken benefit from his position as the mayor of Simao City in Yunnan and as Communist Party Chief of Tengchong County. From 2000 to 2012, he got involved in iron ore sales and copper exploitation. He received funds and assets worth 16 million yuan from Duan Zhikui and Bi Sheng, the owners of the corporations involved in the trade.

In March 2014, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection reported that Shen Peiping will be placed under investigation for being engaged in serious violations of law. After that, Shen was removed from Office.

Despite the fact that Peiping pleaded guilty to the accusations, the court did not grant any leniency as he intended to cover up the evidence from the investigation and was unable to declare the source of his wealth.
