Officials revealed that a 38-year-old father from Landover, Maryland was killed in a police shootout around Temple Hills on Saturday. The man's three-year-old daughter was found inside the getaway vehicle. According to Prince George's County authorities, the man stabbed and shot his own daughter prior to meeting his own demise in the highway gunfight.

The suspect, Frederick Roy Miller, was initially spotted by the police while he was dragging his daughter and placing her inside his vehicle, a Nissan Altima. The officers then chased the suspect as he drove away. Police said that Miller stopped many times to fire at the trailing officers. The vehicle continued to make its way to Branch Avenue where Miller was eventually fatally shot by the pursuing officers.
According to sources, five Prince George's county police officers and one Maryland state trooper chased Miller and exchanged shots with him. The suspect was then fatally shot by the officers and died on the road. The police then found the three-year-old girl inside the vehicle. She was said to have been suffering from a stabbing injury and a gunshot wound.
The preliminary findings of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed that Miller may have shot and stabbed his own daughter. An examination of the child's body showed that she suffered from a trauma to the upper body. Despite rushing the wounded child to the nearest local hospital, the three-year-old was later pronounced dead.
The police was said to have been alerted by a call, which reported a double shooting at 4200 block of Farmer Place in Temple Hills. Investigators disclosed that the responding officers found a man and a woman lying on the floor. Both were said to have been shot. Upon further inquiry, the police found that the two shooting victims inside the house in Temple Hills were the maternal grandfather and great-grandmother of the child inside the suspect's car. Reports revealed that the gunman attacked the girl's caretakers to kidnap his daughter. Authorities have yet to identify the motive of the father.
All the officers, as well as the trooper, involved in the incident have been placed under routine administrative leave pending the investigation.
