Chinese and African technology companies want a piece of the $60 billion funding package pie pledged by Beijing to develop Africa as the companies unveiled various projects during the China-Africa summit.
The Chinese technology companies are taking advantage of the growth opportunities in Africa after the two nations decided to boost all-round ties during President Xi Jinping's state visit to the African continent.

Huang Dabin, Senior Vice President of ZTE Corporation, said the telecoms market in South Africa is among the industries growing at such a fast pace in the world today.
ZTE Corporation is a leading Chinese provider of telecoms equipment and network solutions operating in Africa.
Huang said ZTE has been operating in Africa for 20 years now and to date, its products and services encompass 48 African countries.
At least 60 Chinese and South African tech companies including ZTE showcased their key products at a manufacturing show at the sidelines of the China-Africa cooperation summit in Johannesburg.
The show was the first time China's major tech companies displayed their wares together with their African counterpart.
At a historic meeting of Chinese and African business and economic leaders, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled a 10-point initiative supported by billions of dollars in funding support, part of which will focus on Africa's industrialization.
Reports said part of the amount will focus on providing satellite reception to 10,000 African villages.
"This will be part of hardwares used to help entertain the villagers," said Dr. Amy Pang, research Managing Director of Star Times, a Chinese paid TV service provider, as he presented a sleek-looking solar-powered multimedia projector system.
Aside from telecoms and entertainment, China companies are looking into possible business potential in aviation and nuclear energy.
