Following up SNL's successful episode with Matthew McConaughey featuring Adele, SNL pulls an impressive coup with their latest host, Ryan Gosling, and musical act, Leon Bridges.

This is Gosling's very first hosting gig for the popular comedy show and his first public appearance in a while, which prompted fans to eagerly await the episode.

And true to the hilarious promo videos that SNL has released, Gosling's comedic chops were clearly on point for the evening.

Not since perennial SNL favorite, Justin Timberlake, have viewers seen a host so game to put himself in every sketch and skit that the writers and actors have prepared for the episode.

Gosling began with an opening monologue that saw surprise guest and fellow Canadian Mike Myers joining him on stage before the pair broke into song.

Next up were a series of live sketches, including one where they were supposedly abducted by aliens, where Gosling was seen unable to keep his composure and was trying (and failing) to keep his giggling fits in.

He was evidently so infectious that even SNL veterans Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon were seen breaking the fourth wall and breaking out into chortles.

Other notable skits to watch out for are Gosling playing a naughty Christmas elf and the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz as well as SNL's Santa Baby sketch.

Next week, SNL will welcome Chris Hemsworth on stage as host, with Chance the Rapper as the musical guest. This will be the final show SNL will stage before the end of the year.
