As tensions rose, Verrico recorded the encounter using his mobile phone at around 5:30 p.m.

During an interview with NBC, he stated that the attack was unprovoked stressing that the park ranger was only doing his job properly.

"He never tried to fight with the kid. He never threw any type of punch at the kid or said anything negative," he added.

Verrico described the incident citing that the ranger was kicked several times in the head when he was down, explaining that he did not intervene because he was outsized and outnumbered.

The video was then turned over to the police as investigations began on Saturday.

Regular skaters at the park claim that they have an unspoken truce with park rangers, further stating  that it had been ruined for them because some 'suburban kid who always acts hard.'

Other skaters recognized the attacker from the footage stating that he was from Pottstown in Montgomery County.

They said that the teen regularly initiates trouble in the park.

Police described the main attacker as a 19-year-old male with dreadlocked hair, five-foot-nine in height. His companions include an Asian male around 5 feet 9 inches in height and another described to be around 19 to 20 years of age.

The unnamed park ranger was treated for minor injuries and is already recovering.

Regular skaters know the ranger and have no problem with him. Whenever his shift begins, skaters leave the park to avoid trouble.

Skateboarding had been prohibited in the park since 2002.
