China's territorial claims is causing alarm in surrounding countries. From Tokyo to Jakarta, countries in the region have criticized Beijing for building artificial lands in the South China Sea.
Foreign Policy reports that Japan is throwing away pacifism while Vietnam is buying firearms from the United States, its old enemy. The Philippines is asking U.S. forces to come back after 25 years of ousting them. Even Singapore is joining in the action, allowing U.S. navy surveillance aircraft to use bases on its territory.

All of these actions were allegedly spurred by China's expansive territorial claims in the South China Sea. China is prompting wary and angry responses from neighbouring countries. Countries are spending billions on ships, submarines, planes and other military machines and seeking support from Washington and other countries because of China's plans to dominate the strategic waterway.
This is good news for the Obama administration now that China's territorial claims have restored its project "Rebalance to Asia", which was impeded by the upheaval in the Middle East. Now, the United States set to sell billions of advanced weapons to surrounding countries in Asia, while spending $250 million of its own money on new machines like patrol ships, better surveillance and communications gears.
Why are the countries so worried about China's actions in the South China Sea? To illustrate, from Hainan Island ( the administrative and military heart of China with military spear and two naval bases) just off the coast to militarized outposts in the Spratly and Parcel Island, China has sketched a strategic triangle of defence in air and sea.
