ABC, the network the reporter is under, has been rather supportive of Elizabeth Vargas, stating that they are looking forward to having her back on ABC News.

The spokesperson for the network stated that Elizabeth Vargas' health and well-being is of utmost importance, and that the network is just a step behind to support her. (Last phrase not quite correct)

"Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and her family and we look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return," ABC's representative said.

Back in 2013, Elizabeth Vargas announced that she had been to rehab due to her alcoholism. She has made a guest appearance on 'Good Morning America' and through the show, admitted that she was an alcoholic and was struggling to accept it.

The news anchor has shared how she had suffered panic attacks ever since she was young and used alcohol as a means for her to get over the stress, thus resulting to her present condition.

Despite her struggles and going through rehab last fall, the anchor is a well-achieved journalist who has a long-running contract with ABC. She has just recently renewed her contract with the network.
