The company's application description in iTunes says, "Use PlayStation Messages to instantly see who is online and message your gamer friends and favorite groups from your mobile device. Always stay connected with your gamer friends to talk about the games you love to play even while you're away from your PS4 system."
TechTimes reported that PlayStation Messages is a free application which allows players to see whether their friends are online or away. User of this app can also see the game that each player is playing. The application is also capable of sending messages via text or in voice to a friend or a group of people.
Aside from sending text and voice messaging feature, players can also send stickers and images that feature popular PlayStation 4 game characters. Games like Knack and Nathan Drake of 'Uncharted' is included in the sticker.
The app features a quick access to the user's favorite message groups based on their favorites list. The app also gives gamers the ability to stay connected in all times with their friends to talk about the games they love or the game they are playing.
PlayStation users before experienced a sluggish and blurry performance when sending messages through the PlayStation App. Now, users can simply tap the Messages tab which can be found in the toolbar at the top section of the PlayStation app to start the new PlayStation Messages app.
However, users of the new PlayStation Messages would still need the old full PlayStation app in order to learn about new game releases, latest PS4 news, and everything that is related to their PlayStation Network account. The original PlayStation app has also been updated by Sony, which allow users to keep track every activities they made and to follow verified accounts of other users.
