(Photo : Feng Li/Getty Images) The World Bank has estimated that China will lose 90 million workers by 2040.
China's working age population is projected to fall 10 percent by 2040, making the country lose some 90 million workers, based on data released by the World Bank.
This number is larger than that of Germany's population, according to the Financial Times.

All this, because of the rapidly aging society.
China, being the world's most populated country with 1.4 billion people, has the most number of senior citizens compared to any other developing nation. Currently, people in China aged 65 and above number about 115 million.
Back in 1979, the Chinese government strictly enforced the one child policy, by which all families were strictly mandated to have only one child. Because of this, those who are in the working age are not that many.
In 2012, China's working age group already fell for the first time in decades, and has since continued to decline, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
In an effort to alleviate or solve the current issue, the Chinese government earlier announced that they will relax the one-child policy, and will allow families to have two children.
However, experts say that the decision will have little effect, adding that it was made too late. It will take decades before the babies can ever enter the workforce.
Philip O'Keefe, lead author of the World Bank report, said that at the current rate, China will be old before it could ever become rich. With China's current fertility rate, a long-term impact still cannot be expected.
China is not the only country that's currently experiencing such demographic problems. The estimated 10 percent loss in working age population by 2040 is also expected in neighboring countries Thailand and Japan, while Korea has an even bigger estimate at 15 percent.
