Microsoft's virtual assistant called 'Cortana' is finally making her debut after several months of beta testing on both iOS and Android platforms. Starting today, Cortana is now available for download on the Apps Store for iOS devices and Google Play Store for the Android users.

The Coratana app will be integrated in the Cyanogen OS-powered OnePlus, which was come out this December (with the 12.1.1 Cyanogen update), according to Engadget. Users of this app will be able to track notifications and reminders for things such as flights and packages. The app will also answer users' questions. Cortana's feature set will be different on each platform.
Cortana on Android platform uses the command "Hey Cortana" to ask questions, when users are in the application or home screen, they can also get text notifications sent to Windows 10 PC. However, for iOS users, this feature would probably not be seen for a while, since Apple likely would not open up iOS enough to make them possible.
As for Cyanogen, Cortana will be pre-installed and users will be able to use the Cortana command even if they are opening with another app. Users can also use Cortana to do things such as changing network modes, switching down phone and going into silence mode.
"It's been a fascinating experience to learn how you think about a personal assistant that runs across multiple platforms," said Marcus Ash, Microsoft's program manager for the Cortana project.
Microsoft has been working on Cortana since March to port on cross-platform, and while Ash's team was able to take ideas from other teams that have built cross-platform apps, like the folks behind Office, Skype and OneDrive, this particular project presented entirely new challenges.
The Cortana apps will only be available in China and US at launch. Cortana is compatible with iOS 8 or Android 4.1.2, at the very least.
