Mom Creates "Ignore No More" App to Get Son to Pick Up Phone

Houston native Sharon Standifird got sick of her teen son Bradley ignoring her phone calls and texts. So what's a frustrated mom to do?

"Few things are more frustrating than your children refusing to answer your calls or respond to your text messages," Sharon wrote in her website.

Sharon, who refers to herself as a teacher-turned-entrepreneur, came up with a brilliant idea to create an app that gives her the power to deactivate Bradley's phone when he doesn't answer.

She named her app "Ignore No More."

Once a parent locks his or her child's phone, the child will only be able to contact those who are on a special list set up by the parent.

These are the ones who have the password to unlock the device. Sharon said that removing the app is "virtually impossible".

Initially, Bradley thought his mom's idea was original and creative -- that is until she tried it out on him.

In order for her son to reactivate his phone, he needed to enter a password. And the deviously smart twist? Sharon is the only one who knew it.

Sharon said the app really works and that her son is now answering her calls and messages.

However, the vital step in actually getting the technology to work for you is to find a way to get hold of your kid's mobile phone -- which may actually prove to be an extremely challenging feat.

The technology was featured on the "Today" show.

Matt Lauer of the "Today" show isn't a fan of the app, but co-hosts Tamron Hall and Natalie Morales said they'd have different approaches to using the app.

Hall said the best way to get your child to allow you to install the app is to say you're the one paying for the phone bills.

Morales, on the other hand, stated that the simplest way to get your child to answer the phone is to take it away if he or she doesn't.

The app is available on Google Play for $1.99.

Currently, the app only works for Android phones, but Sharon is working on a version for iPhones.
