Google Drive Users Can Now Search Files Easier

(Photo : Getty Images) Google Drive's new features are expected to be rolled out on Android, and iOS platforms in the coming weeks.
Google is updating the Google Drive service by rolling out a "new search experience" for its cloud storage service on Wednesday.
The update adds easy search mode to the service. Users can now specify their searches by a specific file types such as text documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations, photos, or videos. To use this feature, users simply need to type a search query into the search box that can be found in the updated iOS, Android, and Web application.

The newly updated application also features an advanced search option directly from the search box, incase users does not find what they need. When using the advance search, searches will be sorted to the date it was last modified, specific words it contains, or with whom it was shared. To acquire more specific results, users can now search the shared files by owner using email address or their name.
"Several behind-the-scenes improvements give your search queries even better results than they did before," says a blog post made by Steen Andersson, Google Drive Group Product Manager. Andersson added that this is an ongoing effort by the company to make their service the easiest place to find their files.
Google Drive also now supports the 3D Touch feature in Apple's latest iPhones which will let users to access their recent files or search from the home screen. According to PC Mag, Apple users can also now directly search Drive using the iOS search bar without opening the Drive app. Google said the new features is on the way now and is expected to release this update within the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Google Apps has received a new feature called Data Loss Prevention which provides security and ensures confidential information is not emailed to the wrong people.
