After wrapping up his 16-month world tour on Dec. 12, Ed Sheeran announced Instagram that he will be taking a break from social media and will be unreachable by his phone or email.
The star began his X-Tour in Aug. 2014 in Japan.
Although appreciative of his success over the last five years, the 24-year old singer-songwriter says he finds himself too engrossed in "seeing with the world through a screen", and that it is about time he did something else.

"I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed," he posted.
He sends a personal note to his friends and family that if they love him, they will understand why he needs to take time off.
He also relays a message to his fans that he is currently working on his third album, which he belives is the best thing he has done so far.
Sheeran ends his message with the note, "See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
In an interview with Australian radio station Nova on Dec. 7, Sheeran admitted that he would have to take time off to recover from ear surgery when he got back to the UK.
The singer figured in an accident in Spain earlier this year after jumping off a yacht. He had to undergo surgery to repair his eardrum.
"So it's kind of good, it means I have to stay at home," he shared, after admitting that he isn't allowed to fly anywhere anytime soon in order to recuperate.
