Microsoft has announced an update to the functionality of Microsoft Band with the addition of a new music control, activity reminder, and enhanced Exercise Tile.

Microsoft Band is compatible with any mobile music app and connected to the device via Bluetooth.

The device music control functionality works on various activities such as taking a run through the park, pumping iron at the gym, or doing yoga in the living room. The device also now displays the song titles on the screen, and will let the user pause, play, skip forward, skip back, and turn the volume up or down.

Another Microsoft Band's updated functionality is the Activity Reminder feature. The Band will automatically remind the user to get up and move. The user can choose their preferred time intervals and days to be notified. When notifying, the Band will display a light glowing with an itty blue snail and a warning message saying "You haven't been actively recently."

This device is perfect for starting the new year with a new exercise regimen, courtesy of the Microsoft Band. It will let users choose their favourite activity using the Exercise Tile feature. The device can suggest an activity to users such as yoga, weightlifting, or whichever exercise they prefer.

The device also is capable of reviewing user's activity sessions using the Microsoft Health app or Web dashboard. Microsoft Health app shows summaries of users' activities and observations grouped by exercise type. If users cannot keep up with all the changes, they can tap the "What's New Tile" button that will appear automatically on their band when updates are available.

The update is already available for download, so be sure to install it on your Microsoft Band as soon as possible.
