Norton Security, its newest product, has doubled down on a subscription model that seems to be working.

Fran Rosch, Symantec's executive vice president in charge of the Norton business, said they're catching up with their customers.

Norton is computer security giant Symantec's consumer-oriented division.

Symantec's new business model is similar to that of Netflix. It lets a customer to sign-up for one account that can be used for multiple devices, including laptops, smartphones, desktops and tablets.

Customers can login using their Norton ID (email address) on any device and download the right security for the device.

Norton Security will go on sale on September 23 at US$80 a year.

It consists of an antivirus program, spam monitoring, spyware monitoring and other related features from Norton Anti-Virus, Norton Internet Security and Norton 360.

Norton Security slightly resembles the Norton 360 Multi-Device which sells at US$100 annually but is now cheaper at US$70.

A simplified Norton program will help customers and allow multiple use in different devices.

It can be used on Windows, Macs, iOS and Android smartphones.

Password keeper and cloud-backup storage are included and costs US$10 a year for 25 GB.

For users that want a premium version of Norton Security and Antivirus on Android phone, they can start paying US$30 for an in-app purchase or log in as a premium user to buy the larger subscription.

iOS users, however, can't purchase the premium version via the app.
