Huo is the only actor to receive this feat so far, earning critical and commercial acclaim this year following the success of his drama, Journey of Flower, which broke numerous records this year. Wallace's acting prowess, especially his ability to excel in both modern and ancient dramatic performance, made him one of his generation's best actors.
In his speech, Wallace revealed that acting made him discover what he really wanted in life.
"I am extremely, extremely thankful to China Newsweek for giving me this acknowledgement," he said.
"When I first got in touch with acting, I fell in love with it. To be able to provide people with so much entertainment during their spare time has made me discover my own sense of duty. It made me really fall in love with this profession. Of course there were difficult times, but it is something to be thankful and happy for. As long as I'm still around, I will continue to do my best."
Wallace's claim to fame was his stint at a popular cellphone commercial with Angelica Lee in 2000. After rendering military service in 2002, Wallace signed with etKING and landed a lead role in the new drama Star, where he also got the chance to sing its theme song of the same title. That launched his acting career, which was followed by one successful TV series after another, shattering ratings records both in Taiwan and Mainland China. Wallace never let his popularity get into his private life. In fact, the actor is praised for his unceasing humility, professionalism, and devotion to acting, earning him the respect of both his fans and colleagues.
