The series is based on DC Comics' "Constantine" comic book which also portrays Papa Midnite as the uneasy ally of Constantine.

Once adversaries, the series is expected to bring Midnite and Constantine's characters together to save the world from demon invasion.

Matt Ryan will play the lead role of demon hunter and occult master, John Constantine, who had a dark past, but was forced to join the good side in order to defend humanity from evil forces.

Constantine fights the forces of darkness with his extensive knowledge of dark arts and quick wit.

Since his soul was condemned to hell, Constantine decided to do good in order to get back in the good graces of God to earn entrance into heaven.

The series will tell the story of how Liv, daughter of Constantine's closest friends, was taken by demons because of her ability to see the "otherworld."

Constantine makes it his mission to save and protect Liv and the entire nation.

During the movie adaptation of "Constantine," Keanu Reeves played the lead role and Papa Midnite was played by Djimon Hounsou.
"Constantine" will premiere Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. EST with a pilot episode directed by Neill Marshall.
