The Fossil Q Founder smartwatch was released on the Google Play Store on Dec. 9. The smartwatch, which runs on the Android Wear platform, was well-received by critics and enthusiasts alike thanks to its traditional design and affordable price tag.
The Fossil Q Founder is among the first few smartwatches to employ an innovative approach to their design and specs. The Founder smartwatch uses an Intel processor, a break from usual choice of Qualcomm processors which is used by majority of smartwatches that are currently out in the market.

Seeing the Fossil Q Founder for the first time, one will not imagine that it is a smartwatch. The Founder sports a round face which immediately gave it the impression of a traditional watch instead of a digital watch. It also sports a high quality steel band that not only provides durability but also adds a more traditional look to the watch. Fossil took a six-month long crash course in jewelry design, which they then applied to the Q Founder's design.
Critics agree that the Fossil Q Founder is designed primarily for men. The watch is generally bigger compared to most smartwatch on the market, and the combination of the round-face and steel band gives it an aura of durability that mostly appeals to men.
The Fossil Q Founder sports a 1.5-inch display with 240 pixel per inch density. The display looks nice at normal viewing distance even under direct sunlight. The pixel density falls slightly in the mid-range spec but the display does not have any pixilation of text, whatsoever. The LTPS LCD also provides richness of colors and impressive contrast.
Fossil Q Founder has a decent battery pack, especially when you consider its price. Fossil claims that the battery pack on the Q Founder can last for an all-day normal use. On the other hand, critics have noted that smartwatch stops charging before it reaches 100 percent. Experts said that it must been programmed like that in order to avoid overheating.
