Almost 30 people are reported missing after an explosion erupted in a coal mine in eastern China's province of Anhui on Tuesday, local news agencies reported.
Early in the morning on Tuesday, gas exploded in the Dongfang Coal Mine in the Xiejiaji District of Huainan City, entrapping 29 workers underground. Ten others were able to escape while one was injured.

Around 30 rescuers are still trying to reach the trapped workers, who were reported to be mostly in their 40s. Fire trucks and ambulances are standing by for the rescue in progress.
According to authorities, the coal mine had failed to comply with safety measures enforcement required by the local government both in June and July.
Said mine was ordered to shut down twice, but continued to operate against the government's orders.
According to the Provincial Coal Mine Safety Supervision Bureau, the blasted mine can produce around 90,000 tons of coal every year, Xinhua News Agency reported later on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, nine out of 25 workers trapped in another coal mine in China were rescued after the mine was flooded during the afternoon on Thursday, August 14.
A total of 56 workers were in the mine when the flooding transpired. Chinese rescuers have installed pumps to remove the water from the tunnels.
The unnamed owner of the Anzhishun Coal Mine in Jixi City has been taken into police custody for questioning, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
Reports did not say anything about the cause of the flooding in the coal mine located in northeast China's Heilongjiang province as 16 more entrapped workers are being rescued as of Friday.
China has been known to have some of the deadliest mines though development of stricter safety and precautionary work measures to make them safer for both workers and citizens in surrounding communities.
