July 25th, Apple announces on its official website in China that only official chargers should be used to charge Apple products. Apple also posts guidance on how to distinguish the original USB power adapter for iPhone and iPad. As there have been two persons in China recently who were shocked while using the chargers for their iPhone products, Apple responses the accidents by reminding Chinese users to use official chargers.
Apple company posted illustrations on its website in China. It wrote as follows: Apple always puts its users' safety first, so all of our products have gone through safety test and reliability test. And these products are designed to meet the exacting safety standards required by different governments from all over the world, including the USB power adapters that are available for iPhone and iPad.
Apple also posts detailed pictures about the original USB power adapters for devices available in China, including the iPhone 4, 4S, and iPhone 5, the iPad 3 and 4, as well as the iPad mini. At the same time, Apple suggests Chinese users to use the original USB power adapter and USB cable when charging the Apple device. In addition, Apple mentions these USB power adapters and USB cables can be purchased from Apple authorized stores.
Earlier this month, a 23-year-old Chinese flight attendant was shocked to death when she was taking a call on her iPhone 4 while it was charging. Another electric shock incident in China left a man in a coma. The man was reportedly to have used a counterfeit charger to charge his iPhone 4. After the two fatal accidents, Apple said the company was "deeply saddened" to learn about the tragedies, and the company has offered its condolences to the flight attendant's family. Apple promises the company will investigate the incidents fully and will also cooperate with Chinese authorities on these matters.
