'Rising Star' Season 2: Show Renewed or Cancelled by ABC?

ABC's "Rising Star" will be showing the season finale next week and speculations arise whether the show will be renewed for a second season or not.

Next week's show will finally reveal the winner of the singing contest.

During the premiere of the series in June, show's host Josh Groban noted that the show will "revolutionize" TV programming, however, the rating does not reflect his statement.

When the show debuted, it garnered 5.2million viewers in the age demography of 18 to 49.

The number of viewers the show raked was not at all bad considering it premiered during the summer, but the show's rating started dipping week after week.

From a 1.5 rating during the premiere, it went down 0.7 with only 3.17 million viewers watching the show.

The network is yet to release its official statement whether or not the show will be renewed for a second season, but basing on the dipping ratings and viewers of the show, reports said it will be likely that ABC will cancel the show after the first season.

The mentors of the contestants are Brad Paisley, Kesha and Ludacris.

The show's goal is to transfer the voting power from the judges to the viewers, who are able to vote real time for their favorite through a special app.

The show does not wait till the next episode to reveal who got the best and least number of votes.

Those who are in the Pacific time zone also have their own voting mechanism to bridge the time gap.

In a report released by Variety, it said the show's dipping ratings may be a result of poor marketing.

The show does not give a good sense of connection to its viewers and that's why it is failing, according to Variety.
