A 40-year-old man who was riding a chairlift jumped down into a tiger enclosure in a zoo in Henan province.

The man reportedly jumped down when the chairlift was passing over the tiger enclosure because he was “overcome with excitement.”

A video footage showed that he actually climbed out of the chairlift himself, and that it was no accident. He apparently jumped down meters into the den below. The man apparently tried to do a somersault, but fell awkwardly.

The thrill-seeker fortunately fell into a protective safety net. But only a few moments later, the wild, carnivorous beasts were already encircling beneath him.

Wang Jianluo, who was responsible for the chairlifts and ropeway's safety, told the zoo officers to shut the tigers away. He then climbed up to help the man out of the net and to safety. He then sought to find out the reason why the thrill-seeker did what he did.

"When I was trying to save him on the net, he said to me that he 'hadn’t done a good somersault.',” Wang told China Central Television (CCTV). “After hearing that, I didn’t know what to say to him.”

The unnamed thrill-seeker was then arrested by the police for disturbing public order. According to him, he simply could not contain his excitement as he was passing over the tiger enclosure.

This new report is not the first of its kind. In 2014, a college student wanted to look for two tigers, and climbed a 20-foot high wall at Gwalior Zoo in India.

The thrill-seeker reportedly wandered inside the tiger enclosure with his shirt removed. He was also reported to have done some dancing and yoga while he was inside the tiger pen.

In the same year, another student fell into the tiger enclosure at a zoo in New Delhi. This unfortunate fellow died.
