(Photo : WIKIPEDIA / Imagi) In China, prominent people who suddenly disappear without a trace are thought to have been arrested in connection with the ongoing anti-corruption drive.
Two executives from the animation firm Imagi International have been reported missing in China in the last two months and their disappearances are thought to be connected with the government's anti-corruption drive.
On Friday, Hong Kong-based animation firm Imagi International reported that it has lost its communication with its chairman Shan Jiuliang and director Wen Di in China. They have not heard from Shan since mid-October and from Wen since Nov. 8.

In China, prominent people who suddenly disappear without a trace are thought to have been arrested in connection with the ongoing anti-corruption drive. In such arrests, the allegations and the location of the person are usually kept under wraps.
Just this month, entertainment firm Fosun International reported businessman Guo Guangchang missing. He reappeared after four days but the company has not revealed the details about his previous whereabouts.
Guo, who is known as the Warren Buffet of China, was reportedly spotted being led away by police at a Shanghai airport. After he reappeared, Fosun released a statement saying Guo was assisting authorities in investigations spearheaded by the Chinese judiciary authorities.
However, there is no evidence that could prove that Guo was assisting in an investigation or was the one being investigated.
In August, a Chinese court mentioned both Fosun and Guo in connection witih a bribery case against former Bright Food Group Co. chairman Wang Zongnan. The latter received an 18-year jail sentence.
In summer this year, Patrick Liu Chunning of Alibaba Pictures Group was arrested as part of the government's corruption probe. There were allegations that he was involved in bribery when he was still working as an executive at social media firm Tencent.
The disappearances of the Imagi and Fosun executives demonstrate how the Chinese mainland judiciary authorities' actions affect the companies in Hong Kong.
