UP, a digitized wristband, tracks fitness data and can unleash tons of health trivia data, as well.

Among the useful bits of trivia stored in the wristband are which countries in the world slept the most and the least and which countries are the most "outdoorsy."

UP was developed by Jawbone, a San Francisco-based audio and technology company that sells wearable gadgets and portable audio devices.

The primary reason people buy UP is to use it as a fitness tracker. The device helps users know how many calories they burn while exercising and dieting. This info allows users to stay on the right track towards fitness.

UP also exercises a user's mind. Data on UP reveals Stockholm tops the list of most active cities in the world. It shows the average number of steps is 8,876 per person per day in Stockholm.

Sao Paulo, on the other hand, ranked as the least active city, averaging at only 6,254 steps

Aside from measuring calories, UP also measures how much sleep a user gets by noting what time an individual goes to bed and what time he wakes up.

Jawbone compiled the data it gathered from UP users to create an interactive map that reveals what percentage of the population in a given major city is asleep at any given time. The company refers to its collection of stats as a "cultural thumbprint" of each locale.

Data shows the hardworking people of Tokyo have the least amount of sleep, averaging at five hours and 44 minutes.

UP users in Melbourne were shown to sleep the longest, averaging at seven hours and five minutes per night. Melbourne is followed by various European cities and the United States.

Although Melbourne residents get the most sleep, they still aren't able to reach the recommended eight hours of sleep advocated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The CDC also discovered in a separate study that 35.3 percent of Americans sleep less than 7 hours.
