A campaign in Oregon will be implementing $2.3 million in TV advertising to gain recognition for a ballot proposal that would legalize marijuana for adult consumption.
The ballot proposal known as Measure 91, will be up for vote in November and would allow anyone over the age of 21 to legally consume recreational marijuana on a state level.

Oregon is one of three states that have already had the opportunity to vote on ballot initiatives to legalize marijuana, the other two are Colorado and Washington who became the first states to actually legally pass the initiatives.
Oregon's first attempt failed in November of 2012 in a close margin, as 60 percent of voters' approval was needed in order to be successful and only 54 percent approved "Measure 80" while 46 percent did not.
The marijuana legalization campaign in Oregon are determined to get the measure passed this time around, as the $2.3 million put into TV ads is a record high. Most of the money gathered for the campaign came from a political fund in collaboration with New York-based Drug Policy Alliance.
They also have credible advocates including retired head of addictions and mental health for Oregon Health Authority, Richard Harris. Harris says marijuana is a "relatively benign drug" and also points out how marijuana prohibition helps fund drug cartels and other criminals.
Having Richard Harris on board is a huge game-changer, which will lead to more people supporting the cause. Reports say no organizations or people that are opposed to marijuana legalization have yet to gain any traction.
According to the Federal Communications Commission, marijuana advertising on TV is set to begin Sep. 22 and will start in Portland, OR spreading to cities across the state before the November ballot. Some of the ads can already be seen on YouTube.
