Bigger Tablets for Kids to Launch this Fall

The maker of the popular Nabi tablet computers creates a 20-inch tablet for kids.

Fuhu, Inc. has unveiled the "Nabi Big Tab HD" it also hopes will help bring families closer together.

It's a massive tablet is available with either a 20- or 24-inch high-definition touchscreen.

The California-based company also revealed its reason for making big tablets. They want to create a device that's easy to share among several family members.

They hope to bring family members back together in front of a just single screen

Fuhu also plan to extend its line of educational apps and tablets to groups.

Robb Fujioka, founder and president of Fuhu, said they're trying to develop a product that can enhance collaboration and socialization.

Big Tab, the world's biggest Android tablets designed for sharing, is likely to be more portable than consoles, said Jim Mitchell, Fuhu CEO.

Users can watch movies and play games as a group using the Big Tab. A special enclosure allows the 10-1/2-pound Big Tab to be carried from one room to the next.

It also has a stand to prop-up the tablet. Or, a user can just lay Nabi flat on a table.

Big Tab comes with a dozen board-style games like Monopoly and Candyland. For family games, it has about 20 games like chess and air hockey.

A video app called "Show Time" is also featured along with "Big Canvas" app art studio for creative uses.

Big Tab has also video and books which will come from Disney and Cartoon Network.

The tablet has also parental controls that manage how much time kids spend on the device. Parents can make a chore lists, as well.

Konnect, a social media site for kids, will be featured on the tablet and allows parents to monitor the friends and conversations of their kids.

Fuhu will debut the tablets this fall online at Toys R Us and Costco.

Big Tab's bigger version costs US$549 and the smaller version is US$449.
