Highest Grossing Movies in China in 2015: Furious 7, Monster Hunt

(Photo : Gematsu) Monster Hunt emerged as the highest grossing Chinese production. The Chinese-Hong Kong 3D fantasy adventure film directed by Raman Hui and starring Bai Baihe and Jing Boran grossed a total of $381,860,000.
2015 was a good year for the Chinese box office as it topped 44.06 billion yuan ($6.8 billion), representing a whopping 48.7 percent increase compared to 2014 figures.
Leading the race in the domestic scene is the Hollywood-produced Furious 7 grossing $390,910,000, data from Box Office Mojo revealed. The site, founded in 1999, tracks the box office earnings of movies around the world in a systematic and algorithmic manner.

Furious 7, distributed domestically by China Film, is the seventh installment of the highly successful film franchise starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, who died while film production was in progress.
Monster Hunt emerged as the highest grossing Chinese production. The Chinese-Hong Kong 3D fantasy adventure film directed by Raman Hui and starring Bai Baihe and Jing Boran grossed a total of $381,860,000. It is slated to premier in North America on Jan. 22 in 2D and 3D.
The local comedy film Lost in Hong Kong ranked third with a total gross of $253,590,00. The Chinese comedy film was directed, cowritten, co-produced, and starred by Xu Zheng. It also features Bao Bei'er, Zhao Wei, and Du Juan. This is Xu's second directorial venture, following the success of his first film, Lost in Thailand (2012).
On the fourth spot is the Marvel Comics smash shit Avengers: Age of Ultron starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner, which grossed $240,110,000. In the fifth place is the sci-fi adventure Jurassic World with $228,740,000 in revenue.
