'With Love, William Shakespeare': China Celebrates 400th Death Anniversary of Shakespeare

(Photo : Getty Images) The reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s classical works in China is just one of the many events and activities coordinated by Shakespeare Lives in celebration of the author’s work.
To commemorate the 400th death anniversary of the world-famous author William Shakespeare, a Chinese musical entitled "With Love, William Shakespeare" will be staged in Beijing for one month. The musical will be in theatres from December 31, 2015 until January 31, 2016.

Xinhua reports that the musical is an interpretation of Shakespeare's classics (such as "Romeo and Juliet", "Twelfth Night", "The Taming of the Shrew" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream") within the context of modern China. The plays will be staged at Beijing's Star Theatre.
The story revolves around four young people who seek Shakespeare for advice and answers in times of confusion in their relationships. This only ends in failure and disappointment.
A global celebration is being sponsored by the British Council for Shakespeare's death anniversary. It is reported that 140 countries and regions will be involved in the Shakespeare Lives program this year.
On a separate note, NPR reports that as part of the celebration of Shakespeare's grandness; one of the world's most precious volumes will be on tour starting Monday, in Norman Okla. The Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C. is sending out Shakespeare First Folio across 50 states.
The First Folio is the first printed collection of all Shakespeare's plays seven years after he passed away. The Folger Shakespeare Library is composed of 82 Folios. This is by far the largest collection in the world.
